Specials
Music
The music department exposes students to an interdisciplinary approach that is both culturally relevant and holistic in scope. Music theory and practice are the cornerstones of the curriculum. Before students are able to engage in the active learning of musical instruments they are exposed to systematic and tiered lessons on music reading and composition. This prepares them for the specific instrument students will learn during the semester. At the MS level students learn to play percussion and wind instruments and are given the opportunity to perform as a class.
Art
The Art department employs a comprehensive and culturally responsive approach to art instruction which allows students the exposure to a wide range of art mediums that they are able to connect with. Throughout the year students are able to learn and work with Oil, watercolor and acrylic paints. They are also exposed to sculpting, collage making, industrial design and graffiti. Students learn to work on individual pieces but also are given the opportunity to collaborate on larger art projects with their fellow students. Every unity begins with lessons on the history and prominent artists in the art form, followed by practice and culminates with an exhibition of student work.
Physical Education
Students engage in a variety of activities, including team sports, individual exercises, and fitness challenges, aimed at enhancing physical skills, strength, and endurance. The curriculum emphasizes the importance of healthy habits, teamwork, and personal goal-setting. Through fun and engaging lessons, students learn the value of physical activity, develop sportsmanship, and gain confidence in their abilities. Our supportive environment ensures that every student, regardless of skill level, can enjoy and benefit from physical education, fostering a positive attitude towards an active lifestyle.
